iPharro Media was founded in 2006 as a spinoff of the world renowned Fraunhofer Organization, a research technology powerhouse that has been on the forefront of state of the art innovations for decades. Among their many outstanding accomplishments, Fraunhofer's researchers have been credited with developing the revolutionary MP3 codec. Since 1995, Fraunhofer's Institute for Computer Graphics has been heavily involved with image recognition technology and has made tremendous strides in the field. iPharro Media is an outgrowth of these efforts.
Since acquiring The Nielsen Company as a charter client in 2006, iPharro has been in the enviable position of having a technology that is robustly powerful, currently implemented, and immediately available. Seeing the enormous potential of this technology, Triangle Venture, one of Germany's few venture capital firms specializing in university and research institution spinoffs, invested 4 million EUR into iPharro in late 2006.
